Mayor Rawlings is now actively recruiting businesses for summer 2015!
Imagine being 17 and given the opportunity to spend a summer working in coveted positions, soaking up real-world knowledge and eye-opening experiences at Dallas’ top corporations, nonprofits and professional firms. That’s what the Mayor’s Intern Fellows program offers.
Since its launch in 2008, 748 Dallas ISD and public charter high school students have participated in eight-week paid summer internships made possible by hundreds of businesses and nonprofits that invested in Dallas youth.
Modeled after the White House Fellow program, these young interns have shadowed surgeons in the operating room, experienced ad campaign launches, learned about the banking industry, and discovered how Dallas’ top nonprofits are affecting change in our community.
Join Mayor Rawlings in sowing the seeds for workforce growth and development by committing your company to at least one intern for Summer 2015!

Texas A&M University (TAMU) Campus Tour
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The tenth grade students will be attending the Texas A&M University (TAMU) on December 19, 2014 for a campus tour. During the tour, the students will learn about the admission process and some aspects of the student life at TAMU. I hope these college campus tours will help the students as an early motivation about attending a university/college and help the students decide which universities/colleges to apply their senior year. It is always great to get their foot in the door!
Below I have attached the permission slip which provides more information about the field trip. Make sure your child returns the permission slip NO LATER than Friday, December 12, 2014 to be able to attend this field trip. Parent Permission Letter

9th Grade Trip to UT Arlington
The HSB 9th grade students went on a college trip to UT Arlington on Tuesday, December 2nd. Students learnt about campus life, academic and athletic opportunities in person. They had a great chance to get a feel for student life in Maverick County. We finished our tour with a great lunch at UT Arlington cafeteria and our students had a chance to interact with college students and experience college life.
